Samson ton couldn't take Royals over the line

IPL 2021 witnessed another nail biting thriller. This time RR had lock horns with arch rivals Punjab Kings. There is something about these Royals - Kings clashes. In Royal's second game last season, they chased down 224 in Sharjah where Samson starred with a 42 ball 85. In Mumbai, Samson demonstrated contrasting show and had almost clinch the victory from the jaws of defeat.

Punjab Kings was put in to bat. PK had set the juggernaut target of 222. Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul led from the front and played an exquisite knock to powered up their side to laid down mammoth target. Both Gayle and Rahul stimulated the innings in the beginning. After Gayle's dismissal, Hooda joined the party and got going in no time, clobbering 5 huge sixes in the middle overs. Pooran didn't disturb the scores after the left handed out for first ball duck. 

Chasing a humongous target of 221, RR needed a powerful and explosive start but it turned out to be a disastrous. Both Stokes and Vohra dismissed cheaply. Butler and Samson had laid the foundation and keep scoreboard ticking. After dismissal Butler, Samson got help from young turks Shivam and Parag. They rotated the strike beautifully and took pressure off from the skipper. On the other hand, Samson had swiftly striking the ball and continued playing his shots with the help of ingeniously timing. Arshdeep who held his nerve at the eleventh hour and bowled phenomenally and varied his pace to perfection. With 5 runs required off the last ball, Samson sliced the ball in the air and Hooda took a fine catch, helping Punjab Kings to come out with flying colors.

IPL 2021 commenced in an effervescent manner. The opening match witnessed multiple twist & turn. RCB kicked started its campaign with a thumping note. After winning a toss, RCB skipper asked MI skipper to bat. 

MI opening pair commenced its innings with  hammer and tongs. However, there was miscommunication between Rohit and Lynn which costs Rohit's wicket. Both Surya and Lynn constructed the innings and subsequently accelerated the scoreboard. Kohli reintroduced his go-to-bowler Kyle Jamineson in the mid over. He provided the breakthrough with no time in the form of Surya. Harshal Patel was entrusted with a responsibility of bowling death overs. He lived up to the expectation and produced tight lines and took 5 wickets. He also put brakes on MI acceleration. MI had set the target of 160 runs.

RCB kicked off its innings with haphazard manner and lost Washington and Padikat in a quick succession. Kohli and Maxwell steered the innings with decent striking. Bumrah and Jansen produced a wicket of Kohli and Maxwell respectively. Then RCB's chase was shepherded by AB de Villiers, whose 27 ball 48 rescued yet another sticky situation. He did what he always does.

Royal Challengers Bangalore possess the most power - packed batting line - up in IPL. They hadn't fired in UAE leg of the tournament, but now they back in their home ground their potential and caliber is re ignited under home condition which very much suited the batsmen. 

It was electrifying Sunday when Bangalore chased down 156. No team chasing here 156 or less had ever lost. RCB came close doing that they lost Virat, & Parthiv without scoring. After that Gayle suddenly change his gear for a while but failed to drive the innings at the similar pace. He dismissed at the crucial juncture. Playing first match in IPL Rilee Rossouw, sent in to bat at 6 for 2, was out after scoring 14 off 23. Yuvraj Singh then went for 14 off 16. Royal Challengers needed 61 from 33, and they were sinking.

But they still had A B de Villiers, RCB last hope. AB who was getting down on one knee and launching anything remotely full over the straight boundary. Darren Sammy conceded 17 overs encompassing 2 maximum and a four. After that Steyn and Bhuveneshwar Kumar pulled things back and ball was in Sunriser court. Final show was yet to come in the form of Absolutely Brilliant de Villiers. AB smashed 24 runs in 19th over and bring his team close to victory. AB made the winning hit in the next over and get his team over the line by single handedly. Until AB embrace his arm, the match was totally going in favor of Sunriser. Stupendous AB proved that why he is most destructive and dangerous batsman in the world.

Batting first Sunriser after losing two wickets early, both Shikhar and Warner had put up a great show added 62 runs. After Shikhar departs, Warner had strive to steer the innings well supported by middle order batsmen. Eventually they posted the total 152 runs. It still seemed like they hadn't put enough on the board, considering the venue and their opponents, and in the end Royal Challengers simply had one world - class batsman too many.

Kings XI Punjab vs RCB

Kings XI Punjab has again put up a great show

In a game crippled by poor batting, RCB limped to 124 runs and full credit goes to bowling department of  Kings XI Punjab in the lights of Sandeep Sharma, Johnson and R Dhawan. C Gayle playing his first game of the season failed to give improvisation to his team. Rest of his teammates have also failed to steer the innings. Kohli was a beat unlucky who dismissed LBW. The swing took a ball past leg stump when the ball struck Kohli's pad.

The top order fell to some inspired seam bowling attack from Sandeep and Mitchell Johnson. AB de Villiers failed to take charge of the innings. The responsibility fell on the inconsistent Yuvraj Singh albeit he showed some potential but failed to convert this into comprehensive performance. He dismissed at the crucial juncture. It was a questionable shot, considering the circumstances. 

The loss of wickets at regular intervals dried up the boundaries. With a paltry 124 to defend, RCB badly need the wickets, Wicket of Pujara and two sensational catches at fine leg by Starc to dismiss Saha and dangerous Maxwell give some glimmer of hope to RCB to defend the total of 124 runs only. But their hope was not perpetually reach the finishing line. It was Miller and Sehwag who repair the innings and building the base for Kings XI subsequently added 45 runs. However, a double blow by Chahal added the twists & turn to match. But captain Bailey leading from the front again and well supported by Rishi Dhawan to ensure his team to sealed the win.

On the other hand RCB succumbed to their third loss and will need a quick turnaround once the tournament returns to India.

RCB lose after having ball's in their court

T20 is all about change the complexion of a game in a flash. This definition truly symmetrical with what happened last night when Chris Lynn took a blinder jaw-dropping acrobatic catch to dismissed ABD and transformed the game single handedly in favor of KKR. 

Batting first KKR didn't manage to get a flyer losing two wickets in quick succession. Kallis and Lynn have man oeuvre the innings and building base for their team. They put 80 for the third wicket. After Lynn's dismissal KKR was in the back foot and lost the pace and derail the momentum eventually posted inadequate target which seemed not very compatible against RCB fabulous batting line up.  Varun Aaron showed he had control as well as pace, and legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal turned in his third impressive performance in a row to keep the Knight Riders in check. Bowlers did good job fettered KKR below 155 runs. 

Royal Challenge braced their innings in tremendous fashion, both Parthiv Patel and Yogesh Takawala provided a strong start and Virat Kohli was at his usual best to monitor and guide the chase perhaps played an anchoring role. Narine was vigilant played out until Kohli was bamboozled off the penultimate ball of his spell to give Knight Riders a faint chance. Yuvraj couldn't capitalize the pace towards the end and left his team to face the music, reviving memories of his painful T20I world cup final innings and giving KKR more of a command on a game, before Vinay and Lynn yanked it out of Royal Challenger's hands.

Kings XI Punjab vs Sun riser Hyderabad


Maxwell again unleashed the storm against Sun riser Hyderabad

Maxwell played incredible innings last night which helped Kings XI Punjab to get formidable win over Sun riser Hyderabad and lead in the points table. Aristocratic Maxwell smashed 9 behemoth sixes and scored 95 off 43.  Batting first Kings XI set up the total of 193 runs which was mounting target. Both Sehwag and Pujara laid down the foundation stone for their team and bestowed flying start to their team. The platform was well set up for Maxwell when he walked in subsequently he laid down the finishing stone for his team. He had plenty of luck as well which comprise catch dropped by Warner and caught off a no - ball that reprieved Maxwell . Sun riser also didn't bring on their prominent weapon, Dale Steyn, when the Maxwell was in the midst of his carnage.

The highlight on the onslaught was the 13th over when Maxwell effortlessly cleared mid wicket off the first three deliveries before launching one towards the sightscreen to take 25 runs off Amit Mishra. This innings had fewer of the switch-hits and reverse-sweeps and was more about clean hitting down the ground and, especially, over midwicket.  

On the other hand Sun riser Hyderabad have a dangerous top order - any of Shikhar, Warner or Finch can single-handedly transform the match - but they also have a debacle unbalanced batting line up. After the batting line-up. After the big three, the batting is alarmingly thin - KL Rahul is still finding his way at this level. V Rao and Irfan Pathan both aren't someone team has bank upon and Darren Sammy is great at providing the finishing touches but less proficient at building the base.  

Sun riser Hyderabad had succumb in front of mercy attack of Kings XI. Captain George Bailey was quite complacent with his bowlers yesterday. Johnson hunted Dhawan subsequently Balaji made his double breakthrough, it was a hour - long dirge for Sunriser's fans before it ended in a crushing 72 run defeat, leaving them with plently of questions over the composition of the team.

Maxwell & Miller chased down phenomenal target 

Lighting has struck twice. It was Glenn Maxwell and David Miller who showed the fireworks last night to get their team over the line. George Bailey was very disappointed with his bowlers conceded more than 190 runs in 20 Overs. Kings XI Punjab bowlers failed to turn up again. Both Maxwell and Miller smashed 140 runs off 64 balls comprising 12 big sixes and reverse-hit and caressed eight fours.

Kings XI Punjab start was not up to the mark. They lost two wickets in quick succession. But it was again Maximum Maxwell who build ed his innings his own way followed by some serious damaged done by Killer Miller. The innings was full of incredible hitting. Batting first Rajasthan Royal posted total of 191 runs which was comprehensive total on this pitch. Shane Watson once again displayed the fearless knock scoring 50 off 29 balls well supported by young emerging S Samson who played the mature innings scoring 52 off 34 balls. At the end of innings S Smith who played cameo and help RR to lift 191 runs. George Bailey was not complacent with his two departments i.e bowling & fielding. Mitchell Johnson, the leader of the attach, looked very dull again and their ground fielding was not on the expected lines dropped two valuable catches of Watson and Samson. 

Maxwell scored 89 off 45 balls launched 6 super six missiles which deposited in the stands. Maxwell dismissed at 89 runs, another century was missed. Rajasthan Royals were breathing again. They had little clue they were about to jump from the frying pan into the fire, the fire of Miller's 51 off 19. The turning point of game was when Kulkarni got the ball and David Miller grab the opportunity with both hands hitting impeccable 4 maximum in one over and turn the fortunes of Punjab.

KKR vs MI

KKR kick off with thumping win

KKR cruised to a big victory over Mumbai Indians in the maiden game of IPL 2014. After winning the toss, Kolkata has opted to bat first. In the first 15 minutes of match, it seemed that Gautam Gambhir has made wrong decision when he himself facing difficulties with seam attack of Mumbai Indians in the lights of Malinga and Zaheer Khan. After dismissal of Gambhir, both Jacques Kallis & Manish Pandey had manoeuvre the innings subsequently  placed KKR in a strong position. It was a slow going early on but both have shifted the gears start looking for boundaries and big hits and they did in style. Kallis has regularly faced the questions over the pacing of his innings in T20Is. Kallis answered his critics by playing composed innings and scored 72 off 46. On the other hand Manish Pandey has also played his part by scoring 64 off 53. Suryakumar Yadav played cameo and a couple of innovative strokes to lift KKR  to 163. Malinga produced 4 wickets and continue his legacy that he is one of the stringent bowler to face off.

Ambati Rayudu and Rohit Sharma, two of the stalwarts of Mumbai over the years, tried to up the scoring but against an attack that didn't give away much on a surface where the ball wasn't coming on, the asking rate keep on increasing. To hunt for achieving the required rate, they were losing the wickets at quick succession. Power hitters like Pollard and Anderson both have succumbed in front of quality attack. Charismatic Sunil Narine who ended with figures of 4 for 20 to ensure a reverberation win for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sunrisers Hyderabad wiped out Royal Challenger Bangalore in a close encounter

Sunriser Hyderabad once again proven that they are not playing the game as a underdog team. Their wins over Royal Challenge Bangalore clearly indicated their intention and enthusiasm. Despite of not having big names in the team, they settled down with two consecutive wins. Yesterday’s game had gone into Twenty20 cricket’s sudden death – the Super Over. Steyn had to defend 20 runs, thanks to Cameron White’s bolstering knock and phenomenal hits off Vinay Kumar and came out on top as Royal Challengers fell  five runs short.

It was a dog eat dog contest throughout the forty overs in the electrifying atmosphere of Hyderabad. Defending seven at last over was not a cup of tea for Royal Challenger Bangalore, Vinay bowled an impressive 20^th over for the second game in a row conceding only 6 runs, but could not continue the momentum in the tiebreaker. He was Virat Kohli’s go – to man after he had defended 10 runs off the last over against Mumbai Indians.

The seasaw battle began with Sunriser got big fish Gayle to part timer Hanuma Vihari's first ball in IPL cricket and Dilshan was bowled by Ishan Sharma, Kohli and Henriques had to resurrect the innings and added 43 runs  for the fouth wicket. Henriques’ calibrated innings 44 came off 40 balls with five boundaries finished when Ishant perplexed him by a slower delivery.

The Sunriser chase held together by newcomer Vihari’s unbeaten 44 off 46 balls but he never took the game away from Royal Challenger Bangalore albeit he ensured to keep scoreboard ticking inspite of losing wickets at a regular intervals. He would have expected someone to leading from the front like his captain Sangakkara and Perera unlike couldn’t happended in line with his expectations. The game boiled down to such a finish because of the 23 runs stand for the seventh wicket between Vihari and Reddy. Vinay who had merely invincible run out Amit Mishra, was smashed for 14 runs in 18^th over. Murali Kartik had to keep Royal Challenge Bangalore in the game and he conceded only 7 runs in the penultimate over before Vinay propeled to tie.

White and Perera were Sunriser’s preference for the Super over, and they outdid Royal Challengers’ Gayle and Kohli.

Royal Challenger Bangalore clinched the battle in a nail biting thriller

Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty. Nothing is certain except its uncertainty. Yesterday match had showcase and proven this proclamation once again.  A nerveless final over from Vinay Kumar instrumentalized Royal Challenge Bangalore to earn a dramatic two – run victory over Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the second match of IPL 2013.

Chris Gayle’s storm once again enable RCB to won the first match of a season. His blitzkrieg unbeaten 92 from 58 balls helped his side overcome a pedestrain start, and sailed them to 156 for 5. Gayle began his innings with uncharacteristic reticence, later on he was dealing with fours and sixes. RCB’s start couldn’t streamline with their plans. Early back to back breakthroughs pushed RCB on the backfoot. Despite of losing wickets at one end albeit Gayle planned his innings in a fabulous way launched sixes missile at the regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah of Mumbai Indians took 3 crucial wickets in his maiden IPL match and conceded 32 runs. A dream debut of young boy.

Mumbai’s reply was promising at the outset, legends Sachin and Pointing – opening together for the first time – hit 50 runs together in just over 7 overs. But despite that solid foundation, top order batsmen couldn’t capitalise the innings and was unable to lower the asking rate for much of their innings. Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu allowed the pressure to escalate through a meandering approach during the middle overs. It was Karthik who hit out three consecutive sixes and a four, to plunder 24 runs. Although that mini improvisation bestowed by Karthik couldn’t lasting long enough, a terrific penultimate overs from Jaydev Unadkat and Vinay Kumar, yield the RCB to come off with flying colors.  

IPL Mania Season 6: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils

Kolkata opened the account in an astonishing fashion

In 2008, Kolkata kick started the inaugural match of IPL in a fabulous way. It was Brendom McCullum who set the triumphant tone of IPL 2008 and eventually demolished Bangalore out of game. The history was repeated yesterday in the inaugural boxing match of IPL 2013 as well but it was Sunil Narine who spins the Kolkata to win in opener. Kolkata performance was a dominating one for the circumstances they played as a defending champion. Sunil Narine and Rajat Bhatia who restricted the Delhi Daredevils batsmen and Captain Gautam Gambhir anchored the bulk of the chase.

Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to field, the luck was in favour of Kolkata to had a field first in the slower track. Delhi start was not in line with the captain’s expectation Knight Riders snatched the initiative as early as the first ball. Unmukt Chand, an emerging star in Indian Cricket was beaten by a lovely outswinger from Brett Lee that knocked out off stump. Narine played a pivotal role in Knight Riders victorious season in 2012 and his variation was confounding the batsmen. After Chand’s dismissal things were starting to build up but one again Narine had given the breakthough in the form of David Warner who was baffled by a sharp offspinner and persistently proving an ace for his captain. After Warner’s  departs, wickets were falling at regular interval.

Mahela Jaywardene, however, looked in control, customising and adapting the condition expertly to the approach the pitch demanded, restraining himself from playing blinder and rely on touch and go process. Mahela’s significant contribution of 66 runs helped Delhi DareDevils to stretch the score to 128 runs.

A sense of urgency was more evident in Gambhir’s start to the chase, as he stepped out to smack Irfan for a four and a six in third over, the latter clearing long – on despite of fall of wicket of Bisla at second over. Jacques Kallis at the other end was finding the boundary with lesser effort, timing the ball gloriously. The partnership added 47 runs in less than six overs.

Gambhir ensured a steady run flow after losing Kallis, but again Manoj and Gambhir were re – building the innings and later on Gambhir and Manoj fell in quick succession, but Knight Riders were in control of the chase. Morgan and Yusuf ensured that the task was completed to prevent further hiccup and without any fuss.    

Best Friend

A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walk out. Exactly one year back, I come to know the definition of a real Friend. It was a month of January, when Vibrant Gujarat 2011 is about to start their innings on 10th January 2011. Every staff of CII was vibrating & buzzing. It was a boxing week for me. All staff were under immense pressure. On 9th January 2011, I caught up in an irrelevant controversy. I was feeling the heat. On that night, I found someone very special(Priti) who is ready to take a stand, nurturing me at every moment & her guidance was invaluable. Even she is ready to talk with Boss with reference to resolve controversy believe me no one is ready to do that even my close colleagues don't have a dare to think about that. They also took their foot off the pedal. But in a manner of hours, the tide has turned; from "so what" to "so nice". My first Event was very successful full credit & credentials goes to Priti & my team.

Priti, a golden girl & my best friend....Priti, a girl from Bombay, India..she believe in seizing the wonderful moments and treasure them...according to her definition. Let me take an opportunity to describe her.

"Beauty with Brain" that is the best phrase that describes her. She is so innocent, so sweet, so helpful and so selfless. Sometimes I feel how will she survive in this cruel world but then good people always find a way out.

My each & every moment is fun with her.

Her ability to do parallel processing of information and convert it into golden nuggets, garnished by eloquent language, is truly astonishing. She is the genuine modern all rounder. I raised a toast to his incredible talent. I like Priti because of her meticulous nature. In fact Priti's success recipe is a large tablespoon of talent but several large tablespoonfuls of attitude and of work ethic. A combination  of these two make her a real winner. Best thing about her is she define herself in their own way. That's why I call her Princess!

For me, Best thing is that When she is out there....................., there are no ripples in my mind, its calming influence. I know she would hold the fort, always pushing me up.....She is very methodical. She stand like a rock of Gibraltar.


I promised myself I never let her down. Always bestow her a lot of happiness. The biggest asset I carry over a period of time her valuable friendship. Whenever I think about her past I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. That's why she fly away from abroad. She locked up her past does rejoice. 


May all dreams in her eyes, all desires in her heart and all hopes in her life blend together to give her the most spectacular year ahead. She is carrying a  glimmer of hope. I wish her dreams & hopes comes true shortly. Dear Priti, I found a good person to get me on wheels. I'll keep an eye out for you.

Trip to Aamchi Mumbai on my Birthday!

10 November 2011 was a marquee day for me. Birthday Boy was travelling to Mumbai for the celebration. The day I was waiting for a last couple of months to celebrate with my best best friend. I was very stoked. I arrived at Mumbai in early morning. The atmosphere was really different. One of my best friend always reminding me that Mumbai has a very tough life. My perception is that Daily life in Mumbai is fast paced and cosmopolitan. The city rises at the crack of dawn and doesn't sleep until well into the night.

In Mumbai, I had a feeling of strong eagerness. I don't know why?? Might be later on I will find the  solution. But  solution exist in the evening. It is just like a kind of feeling or eagerness when I visited New Delhi at regular intervals during my College days. I was getting a lot of birthday wishes from my friends. One of my friend come to know that I'm in Mumbai. He called me & asked me to come down to his flat at Chembur. I went to Chembur & spend quality time with him. Now, I'm strolling to Worli for the celebration & divine evening. I reached at Worli. But later I found that My best friend stuck with loads of work. Even she was trying to escape out from the office but she couldn't make it. I was waiting for her expecting that something miracle will happen...................................After waiting for long lasting 3.5 hours, than I was crawling to Mumbai Central to catch up my train.

Few days back I promised my best friend I always display effervescent & positive outlook. I know myself on that evening situation is almost a mirror reflection of what I have planned. The best way to react is to think tank know that situation is worst, but how I can win from here? The biggest "Trophy or Medal" for me to bestow her a lot of happiness. On that night, she called up & was feeling guilty but I respond her in very brave movement "Its not your fault. Just relax & take it easy". That was a winning moment for me. Because If she is happy , I'm happy go lucky.

Lesson for me: Relation grows as much as the expectation stretches. I tell myself that "I cannot have a carpet under which I can keep all these things & at the same time expect these things will remain stable". Few things are not in our hands. It could be better to leave it & look forward.

Very next day, I celebrated my birthday with office colleagues.

I'm not sure I am quite perfect person to write about excellence. I may not have quite the intellectual largest of Bill Gates. But I try my level best. Lets see how much it is worthwhile....

FMS, BHU:-

I'm sharing few real time experience when I was in FMS. The three alphabets FMS I love a lot. I tell you why just a moment. I was not sure what I am getting into. I landed in FMS  from very soft Banking Course. My first 4-5 months in FMS I felt like Draconian..................

Believe me till I came in FMS I thought that getting into FMS is the biggest thing I achieved in my life. In my first 6 months, I realized that getting out would be probably bigger than getting in. As MBA-I, FMS was terrible. Its terrible for me not the institute. I didn't know what to do here. I thought that everybody in the world is better than me everything in the world & quietly when I sat down in my room. I realized that Its true.........

My views on "The End".....

Lot of people think that end is crucial. Because end is always the driver of the ambition. We usually set ourselves the end or the result goals. The End gives us the vision. "The End" at all cost attitude that pervades is the source  for all anxiety. It also creates the temptation to do whatever it takes to win.

Excellence is about chasing the professional performance goal & letting the result/end take care of themselves. Make the process of achievement supreme to make the result relevant. Make perfect, the process of performance & don't allow the pressure of the results to choke your performance..

When I was in DHL Express Pvt. Ltd. My boss was always reminding me take care of the performance, Rupees will take care of everything else....

I feel Every practicing manager must frame & put up. The path to excellence is through performance not through rupees...

Matches are won or lost not because the other team plays better, but because a team does not play as well as it can..

You know its funny every time I do something because I love doing it. Let me go & do it very best I can. I can't really do it more than that.

"We think that excellence exists in the results, but I am convinced that excellence exists in the performance as well & even more so in the preparation".

The great team become great because they excel in their preparation.

Excellence is the series of 100%:-

Excellence is the series of 100%. Learn to give every time 100% effort. If you give every moment 100% & then wait for the next moment & say "You know what? This is the moment I wanted to give 100% too" & then the next moment turns up & then you say "Actually this was the moment I really wanted to give my 100% best" And then you will find the little things in life that makes the difference between the good & great just happen.

You don't know who is watching you, from where which opportunity is coming. So always give your 100% best effort.

Sometime we talk of more than 100%. A lot of my friends talk about 110%. Nowadays it is just like adding V before VIP.

You can't do more than 100%.
If you have 1 litre Pepsi bottle Can you fill 2 litres in it?
So you can never give anything more than 100%.
But you can give 100% every moment

If you give 100% every time & you loose you can go to sleep where that you gave your best.
You can take hat off to your opponent & say "Well Done you are better than me today"
When you know that you have given your 100% effort ethically. Than you sleep well.

If I'm bowling to Sachin Tendulkar he hits me 34 runs in an over. Its no matter of shame. If I know myself I gave my 100% effort ethically.

Excellence never seeks excuses:-

When we loose, we seek excuses but excellence never seek excuses
The moment someone says "I would have been good but"..... It means you are trying to assign the blame of your poor performance on someone else.
This makes you are not great already.

In sports, the great team will never say that we have lost because of Umpires. They will just say that we'll come back & do better next time.

"The moment you allow yourself - the moment becoming wrong falls in to your possibility map, than you do go wrong".

In life if you seek excellence, always seek people who are better than you.
"For purely selfish reasons, if not anything else, you should always surround yourselves with people who are better than you, because then you can learn(from them) & grow".

Excellence is not about talent alone:-

Excellence is not about talent alone. In fact major part of excellence has nothing do with talent. It is what you do with talent that matters. I mean What is excellence is all about? Its being in the top 10% in your profession. I know I am talking to the person who wants to be top 1% but lot of ordinary people surround us. Lets say top 10%. Is talent important, when you get to be top 10%. If everybody in the top 10%  have the same talent.

So, whats your USP ??

Its what to do with the talent that counts. I think India is a nation, we are dazzle by the talent a great deal. I found that work ethics & attitude counts far far more than the talent.

Talent builds ego. I was fascinated by what I had seen a lot of my friends extremely talented the moment they face the roadblock they don't know what to do? Because they never had to struggled to succeed. They always use talent to succeed.

In the Australian Army, when they are building an elite core team. They look at your track record. If you never failed they don't pick you. Because they say if this man has experienced as a failure. Will he know what to do? They picked people who failed & bounced back. That is where your attitude comes through... 

I feel that attitude plays a vital role in everyone's life.

Tendulkar is the prime example. The moment you say Tendulkar. If I ask you one of those things that the Top Host do. I give you words you give me connecting words in one word. If you say Tendulkar I say talent. He played 55 games back to back as a 14 year old, 55 days in a row.

When Tendulkar was born, it wasn't nurse pick him up & say Here Mr Tendulkar your 99 century for you. Its Tendulkar talent that produce 99 century. It is work ethics. Its attitude & more than anything else. when you reached at the top. Its all about "Passion to perform".

In course of time, once you go beyond a certain level, ability or talent is the most useless virtue to possess.
Its what to do with that talent matters. Beyond a point, its passion, attitude & work ethics that count far far more than ability.

Ability talent opens the first door for you, it might open the second door but it is not going to open the last door for you.

Excellence is also about learning from the mistake:- 

Excellence is also about learning from the mistake. I am going to tell you. Mistakes can be your best friends. The more mistakes you make, the more you know what not to do & excellence is as much about knowing what not to do rather than knowing what to do?

If you can be outstanding knowing what not to do than road to what to do opens before.

I feel that Everybody allows to make a mistake. Its second or third mistake that do not allow to make. You make a same mistake thrice thrice than you loose respect.

Honestly I tell you I have done million mistake on a professional life. I done some absolute bloomers. But I say I make them again. Because everytime I got the situation I said hang on buddy last time you are doing something wrong. It is almost like alarm bells ringing in your mind......

It is just like asking boss at 1715 hrs for leaving. You know yourself that you make the mistake straightaway. I am taking the example of my boss repeatedly. I can say he is one of the worst boss I ever had in my life. When you have a worst boss like that "You can get away with MURDER"

By the way other thing I discovered
If I say"I can get away with Murder".
My mother thought that I'm talking about Malika Sherawat.
Its amazing How !

I promptly response her "I'm talking of more traditional meaning".

Excellence is about drop your Ego:-

When I joined CII. Initially I tried to compete, that was a biggest mistake I make. I try to compete because around me everybody was asking me how much experienced you have. It is just like, Ghosts are scattered every corner. I had written another 700 pages of Harry Potter on that. Then I decide, I will show them I understand event management. In course of time, I said I don't need to. One of the things worked for me I was willing to be a non-striker. I discovered that if I could play non-striker in the office where I say my job is to make Sundeep look better or Can I make Deepa look better? They will want to work with me, not with someone who is competing with them. And in trying to make them look better, I was looking better myself.

I found that  the moment I start playing non striker in the office. I dropped my ego. Incidentally, Let me tell you "If you have ego & anger on your side, you don't need an opponent". You have done 90% of the job of ruining yourself.  

Excellence is all about Luck ! :-

What is LUCK? Luck is a combination of preparation & recognition (of opportunities). My view on Luck is "The harder you practice, the luckier you get".

Luck is all about recognizing the opportunity before it comes.

Luck is the fantastic fusion of the person talent & an opportunity spotted.

Let me give you one example on Luck !

When I was hoping to get into good B-School. I have given the entrance test of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. I didn't receive the interview letter from NMIMS. One day I was sitting with my father. I told my father I did not received Interview letter from NMIMS. I told my father in very brave moment "Lighting always hit the same place". He said "What is the worst thing happen to you" You can call up inquire about this....

What is the worst thing happen they will say your name is not in the interview list. I called up. Professor from NMIMS pick up the phone & he said how can I help you.

I said this is what it is.................

I'm actually feeling quite embarrassed. This is what actually happened with me...... I was wondering my name is in the interview list or may be Postman like the interview letter very much & kept it. I did not use those words I was not brave enough. One of the things I learned from the media never let the truth come into way of a good story. But I spoke along those lines. Professor took my telephone number. He called me on the same day. He said your name is in the interview list.

Is it Luck? Did I make my Luck by calling ?

Think about that.......

Excellence is all about having the confidence to share knowledge:-

"To me, excellence is also about having the confidence to share the knowledge(with others). Excellence cannot be insecure - you ought to be willing to teach your craft to people".

Because when knowledge comes it does not come in the sealed envelope as it only comes to you as singing talent does. My name was never on the address.

The other thing about the excellence some of us never know how could we are. Some of us never know how could we are? Some of us think that we are better than what we are & some of us  have no idea ! how could we can be ?

You will find people who achieved excellence have always willing to stretch a little bit. They say "Let me try & see what happen if I try this". What is worst thing happen in my father language? The worst thing happen you will fail. That is why most of the working professional are too good at the age between 22 & 27. Because by then they stretch & succeed or stretch & failed they know what to do? or What can't do? So I find what can't do is very big for me.

Suppose I'm sitting with my boss I can't comment & argument on how the event is organized?

But all of us learn by trying.

"A wrong is always stepping stone to right".

Failure is always a step to success- the previous, in fact".

"If you really want something, sometime you will get it & there is no scientific explanation for this".

Always live in present, live by actions & not by words.

At last I will just share a few lines.

My father who is a great lover of Urdu poetry. He told me once, he put two chairs outside. We lived in  Banaras not in Bombay. So he could put two chairs outside without being in someone else house or sadly these days without being in the flood. He talk to me various things about life.

He told me four great lines...

"Khudko kar bhuland itna ki, har takhdeer ke pehle khuda bhande se pooche - batha teri raza kya hai" - Its a great state of mind to aspire to be to raise yourself to such a level that God wants to grant you fortune, he will ask you what do you want?.....................
